〈願い〉
石を積むという行為は、願いを叫ぶことではなく、ただ静かに心を置いてくることに近い。
本展は、誰かの手が去ったあとに残された石積みのかたちを通して、人の願いが自然という時間の流れのなかに、しばしとどまるその瞬間を捉えようとする。自然とは、人よりはるかに古い時間の流れであると同時に、私たちがその中で共に息づく世界でもあるからだ。
ざらつき、摩耗した表面、かすかな均衡、重さの痕跡。それらは願いを叶えようとする意志ではなく、願いを預け、待つという態度を映し出している。この作品において自然は、征服されるものでも、所有されるものでもなく、人の願いさえも抱き、再び流してゆく、さらに大きな時間の場所として在る。
華やかな象徴の代わりに、沈黙に近い質感を通して、石の姿を描くのではなく、石の「態度」を写し取るこれらの作品は、「成し遂げること」ではなく、「手放すこと」としての願いを語っている。
〈Wish〉
The act of stacking stones is not about calling out a wish, but rather about quietly setting one’s heart down.
This exhibition seeks to capture the moment when a human wish, through the form of stone stacks left behind after someone’s touch has passed, comes to rest for a brief while within the flow of time that is nature. Nature exists both as a current of time far older than humanity, and as the world in which we breathe together.
Rough and worn surfaces, delicate balances, traces of weight, these do not express a will to make a wish come true, but instead reveal an attitude of entrusting a wish and waiting. In these works, nature is neither something to be conquered nor possessed, but a greater place of time that holds even human wishes and lets them flow onward once again.
Through textures that are closer to silence than to ornament, these works do not depict the appearance of stones, but translate the attitude of stone itself. They speak not of wishes as something to be fulfilled, but of wishes as something to be let go.
